The Independent Commission on Neighbourhoods (ICON) visited Nottingham and Ollerton last week as part of its commitment to listening to communities across the country.
ICON Chair, Baroness Hilary Armstrong, was joined by Commissioner Matt Leach, along with members of the ICON Secretariat.
The group began their visit at Bestwood Partnership, where they were joined by community leaders and stakeholders from local government and institutions. Discussions focused on key themes such as employment, youth opportunities, and health.
They were later welcomed for lunch by the workers and volunteers at Evolve Hub, where the Commission took part in the ‘Community Sharing Table’ celebration, a community-wide event open to all.
In the afternoon, the Commission visited the Lifespring Centre in Ollerton, where they took part in a roundtable discussion with local officials, members of community organisations, local government representatives, and residents.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the visit possible.
